Certificates
The Nurse Practitioner Post Master's Program is designed to develop and enhance the knowledge and skills of registered nurses. It is also designed for those nurses who want to pursue more advanced positions in today's challenging health care environment. The program blends nursing theory with advanced practice concepts necessary to successfully work within the structure, culture, and mission of any size health care organization or educational setting. This program allows a Masters of Nursing prepared nurse to complete a nurse practitioner program and apply for state licensure.
Licensed practical nurses (LPNs) also called licensed vocational nurses (LVNs) provide basic bedside care for the sick, injured and convalescent, under the direction of physicians and registered nurses. Working directly with patients, LPNs are responsible for a wide range of duties including giving injections, taking vital signs, performing basic diagnostic tests, dressing wounds, and administering medication. Some LPNs specialize in pediatrics, surgery, obstetrics or psychiatry.
Associate Degrees
Registered nurses (RNs), regardless of specialty or work setting, treat patients, educate patients and the public about various medical conditions, and provide advice and emotional support to patients’ family members. RNs record patients’ medical histories and symptoms, help perform diagnostic tests and analyze results, operate medical machinery, administer treatment and medications, and help with patient follow-up and rehabilitation.
Bachelor's Degrees
The BSHCS major is designed to integrate a foundation of general education and applied sciences with the expertise that prepares the graduate for management positions in health care. The BSHCS curriculum addresses the basic body of knowledge, understanding, and skills relevant to health care administration.
The BSHA Program is designed to integrate a foundation of general education and applied sciences with the expertise that prepares the graduate for professional careers in a variety of health care or related health settings. The BSHA curriculum addresses the basic body of knowledge, understanding, and skills identified as relevant to health care services such as management, finance and accounting, legal and ethical parameters, health and disease factors, and human and information resources. In addition, majors provide the student with initial educational preparation for careers in long term care and health information systems. This 60-credit major fulfills only part of the 120-minimum credit requirement (124 for Kansas students) for degree completion.

The Bachelors of Science in Nursing program has a special sequence for the Practical Nurse/Vocational Nurse (PN/VN) to achieve the BSN degree and is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc.* This program builds on the basic education, skills, and experience of the practical nurse transitioning to the professional nursing role. Curriculum builds upon a foundation of biological, physical, and social sciences, which contribute to the science of nursing. The liberal arts components enhance the development of the intellectual, social, and cultural aspects of the professional nurse. Program content will focus on role transition, advanced clinical skills, and critical thinking. Graduates of the program will be eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses.

The program enhances the foundation in the biological, physical, and social sciences through an instructional program with behavioral objectives that concentrate on the development of the nurse's role as caregiver, teacher, and manager of care.
The RN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program, accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education,* is designed to develop the professional knowledge and skills of working registered nurses. The curriculum is built upon a foundation of biological, physical, and social sciences which contribute to the science of nursing. The liberal arts components enhance the development of the intellectual, social, and cultural aspects of the professional nurse.
Masters Degrees
The Master of Public Health program is practice-oriented, designed to prepare students who have little or no experience in community health to work with communities to map their assets and needs. Using those assessments, MPH graduates will be able to develop and evaluate culturally relevant interventions to promote public health.
The Master of Health Administration (MHA) program prepares leaders who can effectively respond to the dynamic and ever-changing health care industry. These individuals have a capacity to critically examine and evaluate issues and trends and are empowered to influence the destiny of the global health care system. Curriculum is tailored to the needs of the health care leader/manager by providing content in finance, policy, research, technology, quality improvement, economics, marketing and strategic planning. In addition, students will also be asked to complete course work related to their area of concentration such as public health, long-term care, and health informatics.

The MSN/MBA/HCM program is designed to provide nurses with the blend of advanced nursing and business management skills needed to manage today's health care delivery systems. The MBA/HCM curriculum emphasizes the identification, analysis, and solution of complex management problems that require technical understanding and balanced decision making.
The Master of Science in Nursing/Health Care Education program (MSN/ED), accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc.(1) enhances the knowledge and skills of registered nurses with baccalaureate-degree preparation.
Successful solutions to community health problems depend on understanding how complex local, regional, national and global factors influence public health practice. Future public health leaders will generate new information from interdisciplinary studies and develop it into unique, community-based public health programs.
Doctorate Degrees
This specialization prepares professionals to plan and deliver preventive health services to communities and individuals, including underserved communities and populations with special needs. Graduates of this specialization are prepared to conduct and evaluate services that improve the delivery of programs to reduce individual risk factors for disease. Graduates are also prepared to promote the health of communities.
This program focuses on seeking solutions to significant public health problems and applying and integrating new knowledge into public health research and practice settings. The curriculum is focused on community health, including medical, social, political, ethical and economic factors that contribute to an overall well-being of a public health system and to the community it serves.
This specialization serves students interested in providing leadership in health promotion and education in settings such as communities; schools; work sites; clinics; and government agencies. The specialization prepares students to provide leadership in the planning and administration of health promotion and education programs, and leadership in conducting evaluative research on the effectiveness of those programs.
The epidemiology specialization focuses on the scientific understanding of the causes, distribution, control and prevention of disease in populations.
The Health and Human Behavior specialization focuses on how individuals, groups within organizations and populations act and react within the context of individual and community well being and illness. This specialization includes complementary healthcare, public health policy, ethics, and gerontology.
This specialization prepares professionals to administer health and medical care services within the integrated delivery systems model. This specialization also prepares professionals to become administrators of health profession programs (e.g. nursing, public health and allied health) in higher education institutions.
The PhD in Health Services program prepares you to serve at the forefront of the design and delivery of cutting-edge health services in the private and public sectors. The General Program offers an interdisciplinary approach to the study of health services. You'll study health services from a general social and behavioral sciences perspective, making it an appropriate program for a broad range of health services professionals.
