Associate Degrees

Do you picture yourself working with younger children in a day care or educational setting? Are you already employed in child care and wish to earn recognized credentials? The ASIS degree with an early childhood development emphasis area will prepare you with the basic knowledge and skills you need to work exclusively with infants, toddlers, pre-school, and kindergarten-aged children in a day care or educational setting.
An Associate's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies prepares you for entry-level employment and brings you at least halfway toward a bachelor’s degree. Additionally, many students who choose the Educational Paraprofessional emphasis area go on to pursue teaching certification after completion of the program. If, in the future, you should decide to complete your bachelor’s degree, we can help you get there faster with its advanced start program options.
If you need an associate’s degree to move your career ahead but haven’t found a degree program that fits your needs, this may be the program for you. This program is also an option for students who have already earned college-equivalent credit from a regionally or nationally accredited college and want to earn an Associate’s Degree.

The Bachelor of Science in Education/Elementary Teacher Education (BSEd/E 001) program is a degree program leading to teacher licensure. The guiding philosophy of the BSEd/E 001 program is to provide students with the skills and knowledge that will allow them to become competent and effective educators. This program focuses on elementary student learning by developing the skills of the educator responsibility for that learning.

Masters Degrees
The MAEd program is designed to meet the specific needs of educators through a variety of specializations. Each area of specialization offers courses developed to meet state licensing and content standards and to enhance and refine the skills of the individual whether an administrator, counselor, or classroom teacher. Specializations offered vary by region.
The Master of Arts in Education degree program is designed to meet the specific needs of educators through specialization in several areas - Administration and Supervision, Educational Counseling, E-Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Diverse Learner, English as a Second Language, Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Technology, and Management of Education Programs. Each area of specialization offers courses developed to meet state licensing or content standards and to enhance and refine the skills of the individual whether an administrator, educational counselor, or classroom teacher.
Readies those with appropriate academic credentials for faculty positions at the postsecondary level in many community colleges and technical and vocational schools. Those with credentials in allied health and technical and industrial technologies, as well as those who have at least 18 graduate hours in an academic discipline, would be ideal candidates for this specialization, and will gain the skills to become effective postsecondary instructors in both ground- and online-based institutions.

The Adult Education specialization focuses on the areas of distance education, training and adult learning theories, practices and applications. Each student/applicant is responsible for checking with his/her state Department of Education and/or school district to determine specific credentialing requirements. The Curriculum and Instruction Program is a graduate degree for bachelor prepared individuals who wish to develop and enhance their curriculum and instruction. The program encompasses the study of curricular planning and development with an integration of technology, assessment and evaluation practices, strategies for effective classroom instruction for a variety of learners and critical issues within the field of education. The Computer Education specialization focuses on using computers and how computers fit in education. Each student/applicant is responsible for checking with his/her state Department of Education and/or school district to determine specific credentialing requirements. The program encompasses the study of curricular planning and development with an integration of technology, assessment and evaluation practices, strategies for effective classroom instruction for a variety of learners and critical issues within the field of education. The English/language arts specialization focuses on the effective curricular, teaching, and assessment practices of the field, the process of language development, reading and phonological theories, and structured English immersion strategies.

The English as a Second Language (ESL) specialization focuses on instructional methods and materials for teaching English as a second language; theories for the acquisition of a second language; testing and evaluation of students studying English as a second language; and developing curriculum for English as a second language students. The Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning offers a professional development opportunity for practicing K–12 teachers and other educators seeking to enhance their classroom performance. Degree candidates will read, analyze, and critique both historical and current educational research studies to prepare them to assume the role of instructional leaders dedicated to improving student performance.
